The following devices and systems will be presented at this year’s KenBIT booth:
Over the past 20 years, KenBIT has strengthened its position in the development and integration of communication systems, as well as in implementing software for automated command-and-control and electronic warfare systems. The company’s developed devices and IT systems are used on a daily basis across all branches of the Polish Armed Forces. KenBIT’s BMS-class systems integrate various devices and sensors into a single network-centric system compliant with national standards and NATO requirements. KenBIT’s solutions fully automate the command-and-control and visualization processes of friendly and enemy forces, creating situational awareness on the battlefield—significantly improving the effective use of one’s own forces and assets while minimizing own losses. KenBIT creates proprietary devices and systems related to digital radio, wired, and satellite communications, as well as to radio-electronic reconnaissance and optoelectronic and electronic warfare topics (SIGINT and COMINT).
The scope of work to date has included designing mobile communication nodes for telecommunications networks, where the key design challenge is integrating VHF, HF, and VSAT communication means with radio link and wired infrastructure in terms of telecommunications services. Many technical solutions developed and built by the company were related to the modernization and development of wireless data and information networks. Because of their military application characteristics, today KenBIT has a number of proprietary data and information network solutions and devices optimized for the lowest possible use of telecommunications infrastructure—both in terms of required data throughput and minimizing operating costs of communication systems linked to billing. These solutions have been installed on 500 wheeled and tracked vehicles, as well as in containers, stationary facilities, and ships of the Polish Navy.
KenBIT’s developed communications systems and BMS-class IT systems (BMS HEKTOR) are compatible with national systems and, through the implementation of various standards and STANAGs, are interoperable with NATO military systems. This has been confirmed in various tests in Poland and abroad, including CWIX and Combined Endeavor, as well as tests with the reference system MTRS at the Fraunhofer Institute in Germany. As long-time specialists in communications systems, KenBIT builds and delivers telecommunication systems with broadband service access and integrates communication techniques and services across combinations of radio and VSAT systems with wired systems. KenBIT also carries out R&D work aimed at acquiring modern and innovative technologies, systems, and devices for the state’s defense needs.
In 2012, KenBIT launched its Maritime Division in Gdynia, specializing in shipborne communication, navigation, and electronic warfare systems, optoelectronic reconnaissance, surveillance, alerting, and access control. The company’s proprietary solutions for producing Integrated Ship Communications Systems have been implemented and are well regarded by crews on 35 vessels of the Polish Navy. Recently, KenBIT deployed for the Polish Navy the first fully digital family of ship-wide and maneuvering public address systems AFRODYTA, which received recognition certification from the Polish Register of Ships. Currently, KenBIT maintains and supports the reconnaissance vessels ORP Hydrograf and ORP Nawigator (broadband reconnaissance system—SSR) and the Shipborne Optoelectronic System, along with their integration with the modernized Ship Reconnaissance Command System (SDR).
For the SSR system, KenBIT delivered a proprietary and unique radio reconnaissance system that to a large extent automates the process of radio reconnaissance. At present, it has no equivalent on the domestic market. It represents an innovative approach to building modern and future-oriented electronic warfare systems. In this area, it enables automated, semi-automated, and manual search, detection, processing, classification, demodulation, interception, direction-finding, technical analysis, and recording of radio emissions in the HF and VHF ranges. In optoelectronic reconnaissance, KenBIT met the Polish Navy’s advanced requirements by delivering, in cooperation with the UK company Chess Dynamics, a versatile system using a technologically advanced optoelectronic head that integrates day cameras, infrared cameras, and a maritime laser rangefinder. The OSO is intended for continuous detection, identification, and tracking of surface, coastal, and air targets, and for conducting optoelectronic reconnaissance in all hydrometeorological conditions. The Gdynia division also services and modernizes communications and navigation systems for the Air Forces.
In recent period, KenBIT has developed and delivered several interesting proprietary systems for the Polish Armed Forces, including AFRODYTA, MHS PIGEON, the BITCom-M Communication System for RIB-class boats, the IT system for modernized Engineering Reconnaissance Carriers, and the Broadband Reconnaissance System delivered to the Polish Navy’s reconnaissance vessels. KenBIT also actively participates in development projects funded by the National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR), as well as in European projects with the European Defence Agency (EDA). Under ongoing NCBR projects, the company is delivering five advanced systems in the areas of communications, cybersecurity, cryptography, and radio-electronic and optoelectronic reconnaissance.
In August this year, in a consortium with ZAMET GŁOWNO, KenBIT signed an agreement with the Armaments Agency for the “Supply of a Mobile Module for Air Operations Command—MMDoP” as well as for the overhaul and modernization of two vessels for the Polish Navy. The company’s scope of work includes: communications, navigation, data and information networks, time systems, and the alarm system and access control.
